Gubongsan (Mt.)
Boasting of diverse charm, Gubongsan (mountain) resembles an Oriental painting. In particular, its beauty is at its peak when the maple leaves surround the strange rocks and bizarre stones.
Surrounded by Gwanjeo-dong, Gasuwon-dong, Goegok-dong, Heukseok-dong, and Bonggok-dong of Seo-gu, Gobongsan (mountain) is 264.1 meters high. Each of its nine peaks boast a diverse charm. Since each peak rises with a graceful even shape, the mountain is like an Oriental painting that has been
drawn on a folding screen.
Consisting of strange rocks and bizarre shaped stones, it offers a beautiful view and a graceful physical appearance. As one of the eight sightseeing musts in Daejeon, Gubongsan (mountain) is especially beautiful when tinged with red in the autumn. Although it is a comparatively low mountain, its beautiful view and geographical features are associated with the legend that immortals enjoyed playing on this mountain. With the Gapcheon stream flowing to the south and its steep cliff, it creates a mysterious sensation in people watching the mountain.
In spring the cherry blossoms and peaks rising above the trees make the view even more beautiful. With its several strange-shaped peaks in rows, Gubongsan (mountain) is particularly noticeable from the Honam Highway and other places, such as Gasuwon and Jinjam. Seen from outside, the mountain looks quite difficult to climb due to its high and rugged peaks. Actually, it is not very difficult to climb, because there are many trails between the steep peaks.
It takes about two hours to walk along the ridges on the trail between Hanchelli Daegogae and Bijae. It is an excellent trail with a great view, The 168 m high peak behind Gasuwon is a good place to take a rest and look at the view.
