EXPO Park
Expo Park
The Expo Park, with its focus on science and the future, enhances the consciousness of the importance of science in many young people's minds and upholds the spirit of '93 Expo.
Cherishing the spirit of '93 International Expo, whose theme "New Way for a Leap," the Expo Science Park was opened as a theme park, the first of its kind in Korea. This park is a mecca of national science education, a place that depicts international sciences, the future, as well as encourages cultural exchanges by
upholding and improving the fruits of Expo. It also serves as a convenient relegation place as well.
In the park, there are many popular pavilions, such as the Space Reconnaissance Flight Hall, the Technopia Hall, the Hanbit Tower, the Earth Hall, the Expo Memorial Hall, the Information and Communication Hall, the Electric Energy Hall, the Natural Life Hall, and the Energy Hall. Unlike the typical, boring exhibitions which conventional showfilms, the park pays more attention to offering better services to the visitors. In particular, the Hanbit Square, constructed May 1999 with the theme of youth, love, romance, and family in mind, is a place of interest to visit in the evening, its large-scale full-colored flowering section, its dynamic music fountain with special flame effects, and its splendid fireworks display on a site of 6,477 pyeong, giving an exotic atmosphere
There are also other facilities such as the monorail, the playground, and lots of space. for different event. The performance facilities, include, Expo Art Hall, seating over 1,100 people, and the International Conference Hall, equipped with a 12-language simultaneous interpretation system. The crossing of the red and blue lights on the Expo Bridge at the Gapcheon Aquatic Park, makes the night view of the science park more fascinating, while crowd of people enjoy fishing during the day. In addition, the Ggumdori-dongsan inspires dreams and hopes in children, and a youth hostel offers rest to visitors.
Finally, the National Science Museum, a hall of science, technology, and culture which is the Korean version of Smithsonian Institute Museum, promotes national scientific life and helps youth to understand science technology, and thereby, leading them to become people of ideas.

Gapcheon Stream Water Park
At Gapcheon Water Park, beloved by most Daejeon citizens, you can enjoy canoeing and fishing in summer, and skating in winter.
Kkumdori Land
This is the biggest theme park within the central area of Korea, in which various kinds of amusement facilities can be found.
Located in an area of more than 55,770 §³, Kkumdori Land plans various monthly events and provides dance & song contests, etc. Weekend and holiday visitors can participate.
Daedeok Science Town
Daedeok Science Town is an incubator of advanced research in science and technology. Various government and private industry research centers located here are leading Korea into the 21st century, as a high ranking scientific research nation.
In this area of 6849.5 acres in Yuseong-gu in Daejeon, there are located many science and education institutes and culture centers; such as the National Central Science Museum, the Currency Museum, Chungnam University, the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. With the newly reopened Expo Science Park, this complex has developed into a home for science, education, and culture in Korea.
Daedeok Science Town was officially named as 'Daedeok Valley' in September 28, 2000. 'Daedeok Valley' is expected to play an important role as the 'Silicon Valley of Asia'.
Daedeok Valley
Daedeok valley is a fertile ground for ventures connecting Daedeok Science Town, the Third and Fourth Industrial Parks, Expo Science Park, Yuseong Hot Springs Resort, and Dunsan New Town. With the establishment by the national administration, of Daedeok Valley in September 28, 2000, this area is expected to become a practical Mecca for high-tech related ventures in Korea.
National Science Museum
Located across from EXPO Park in Daedeok Science Town in Guseong-dong, Yuseong, National Science Museum was built on a site of 165,290§³ with a floor space of 21,600§³. It plays a role as the cradle of education of science. It has a standing exhibition hall, a special exhibition hall, a research-control hall, a celestial sphere hall, a movie theater, an audio-visual room and a computer room. These facilities contribute to scientific knowledge, to education of people by the accumulation of science and technology, and to popularization of a living science.
Currency Museum
Located in Daedeok Science Town, the Currency Museum shows not only the 100 year history of national currency but also Olympic commemorative coins and present currency. It was opened in 1988 with almost 80,000 different currencies.
Daejeon Institute of Education Science
Located in the area of more than 49,500 m², this Research Institute has training facilities for teachers and various pavilions for exploring of a Life, an universe, a solar system, and a computer as well as a pavilion for experiences of fundamental science.
It offers rich sights to see and enjoy through such imaginary experiences as functional structure of body, a growth of the fetal life, a sensor robot, a vibration, and a simulation.
Dunsan Prehistoric Site
Many prehistoric remains were found in the Dunsan Prehistoric site. They include the "old stone age remains"; Double-edged harpoons, scrappers, and planers, the "new stone age remains"; the broken pieces of porcelain with the pattern of the teeth of a comb, and Mangchu, and "the Bronze Age Remains"; the top-shaped broken pieces of porcelain, double-edged axes, stone arrowheads, and building site.
 Local Foods
In the neighborhood of Gapcheon in Yuseong-gu, one can enjoy many local favorite foods. The most popular ones are boribap (barley), dotorimuk (jelly made from acorn). Others include memilmuk (jelly), bindaeddeok (pancake), baeksuk (chicken), and dongdongju (rice wine) .
Hyangtomukmaeul (village) in Gujeuk-dong is particularly famous with Dotorimuk and Boribap. These foods are well known for stimulating appetite. They are also low in calories and fat. People enjoy these foods not only for weight control but also for their low prices. Dotorimuk restaurants are located in rural area thus provides relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
